Yahoo! has recently released a tool called YSlow which helps u to optimize ur website.  It is a firefox addon which is integrated with the most popular Firebug web development tool. It is pretty useful for finding the performance issues of the website and also gives us optimization advice.

The below listed 13 rules are identified by Yahoo’s Exceptional Performance team for making the web pages ultra fast.

  1. Make Fewer HTTP Requests
  2. Use a Content Delivery Network
  3. Add an Expires Header
  4. Gzip Components
  5. Put CSS at the Top
  6. Move Scripts to the Bottom
  7. Avoid CSS Expressions
  8. Make JavaScript and CSS External
  9. Reduce DNS Lookups
  10. Minify JavaScript
  11. Avoid Redirects
  12. Remove Duplicate Scripts
  13. Configure ETags

I believe YSlow! will become the most popular helpful utility for webmasters/site administers/developers for optimizing their websites.
